Little Princes
He loved the
children in little princes .He did not realized how much he missed them in the
last year until that day. The Civil war in Nepal became worst after he left
Nepal in 2005 during that year. Before four years was an incident that made all
the international headlines King Gyanendra's murdered by his son
with the queen and most of the royal family. In fall
2005 the new king stopped the war. The king wants the citizens end the war and
surrender without any terms. The little boys at Little Princes read newspapers
every morning about the killing in their country.
They read about how the rebels killed civilians and police in their
country. The rebels also destroyed civilian homes. If Maoists come they have
guns, so they take children and you can’t do anything against them. The houses
in Nepal have flat rooftops and they serve for a good reason. Families spend
more time on the rooftops then in their homes because they do many things on
there.

Improving the way my writing sounds
Improving the way my writing sounds
Group 3: Grant Schow, Rakan Alolayani, Ahmed Akhwaher.
My Writing sounds choppy, it doesnt flow
-
Transitions and linking words
- connect words, sentences and paragraphs.
- connect words, sentences and paragraphs.
- show the relationship between ideas.
- indicate the order of things and their relative importance.
- indicate when something new is coming.
- signal to readers how an idea fits in and where it's going.
- show a change is coming, i.e. introduce a new ideas.
- introduce a summary or a conclusion.
Adding parallel structure
-
Thesis statement: A sentence in an essay, report, research paper, or speech that identifies the main idea and/or central purpose of the text.
-
Putting the thesis statement in parallel form emphasizes the main ideas into action and give your paper purpose.
-
Consider a topic such as "air pollution in Denver, Colorado, USA." If you want to write about the "causes of air pollution" (the controlling statement), your sentence at the end of the introduction could be "...so the objective of this paper is discuss the three main causes of air pollution in Denver which are (1) exhaust from automobiles, (2) soot from industry smokestacks, and (3) smoke from wood burning fireplaces." (Exhaust, soot, and smoke are all nouns which is parallel structure, but in this case, parallel structure is even more effective because the nouns are all followed by prepositional phrases.

Fix Dangling and msiplaced modifiers
-
A Modifier: is a descriptive word that describes a noun or sentence
-
Avoid misplacing modifying words
-
Example: ‘Sarah was voted prom queen.”
-
Correct Format: “The blond girl named Sarah, who was a foreign exchange student from England, quickly climbed the ladder of popularity during her junior year, smiling her way through cheerleading and an ASB presidency term she inched near the top and was a sure fit as junior prom queen.”

Little Princes
The book is a true story based on Conor's life. Conor is a
twenty nine years old who has a great and prestigious job but is bored. One day
he decides do leave his job and go on a journey around the world. He goes to
Nepal and what was supposed to be an adventure turned out to change his life.
There he met with orphans which turns out they were never orphans but had
families and were taken away from them by lie. The families were promised
protection for the children but they were taken as child traffickers. Conor risks
everything in the dangerous mountains of Nepal to reunite the children with
their families.
Conor never planned on all of this and didn't even imagine
how this volunteering will change his life, what turned out as an adventure
continued as a volunteering for three months. Before volunteering we can see
his arrogance in the beginning of the book, and we witness how his behavior
changes thorough how experience. He becomes very attached and fond of the
children that when time comes to leave he is reluctant. He had to leave because
he already had a ticket to Thailand. We can see his fondness of his children
when they ask him when he will come back he is reluctant to tell them and
chooses his words wisely in order not to give them false hope. He realizes how
happy the children make him and how sad he is because he is leaving. He tells
them he will return in a year and he keep his word.
After he returns to volunteer again he learns that the
mother of the children have shown up looking for them. A lot of these children believed
that their parent were dead, but what they
didn't know is their parents were a life and lived around Nepal. Most of these
children were taken by the child traffickers who promised them protection from
the Maoist rebels. After he learns how the children were treated he feels even
more responsible.
The book is written with humility and honesty about the difficult
life of the children and the decision to find their families. After he comes back to NJ "New Jersey"
he realizes how difficult it is to adjust to the new life, and later on gets
bad news about one of the children. He decides to come back but which leads him
to the idea of starting a non-profit organization " Next Generation
Nepal". The story is about humility. respect, love and admiration, and
also full of hope and promise. By the end of the book Conor is a totally changed
man, he grows to into a mature and responsible person who genuinely cares about
the children willing to risk his life in
order to reunite the children with his families. This book is one that recommend
to everybody to read because it teaches us humility and admiration for the
children. It is one the best book I read.

Little Princes
The reason why he left his job was because he got bored and he needed a drastic
change. He was single and had not mortgage nor had any plans to get married any
time soon, so the best idea was to travel around the world and volunteer at an
orphanage
The reason for Conor to leave the orphanage was because of a trip he had plan beforehand. He was to leave to Thailand in two day. It was not easy for him to leave because of all the question he got from the children asking for when he would return. The CERV staff had advised the volunters to give vague answer in onred not to give false hope to the children because very few had ever returned.
His initial reason is similar to his later reason for leaving, it is because of a planed trip around the world. Although not easy to leave Nepal he still left in order to fulfill his trip plan.
